The Selection began with thirty-five girls.
Now with the group narrowed down to the six Elite, the competition to win Prince Maxon’s heart is fiercer than ever—and America is still struggling to decide where her heart truly lies. Is it with Maxon, who could make her life a fairy tale? Or with her first love, Aspen?
America is desperate for more time. But the rest of the Elite know exactly what they want—and America’s chance to choose is about to slip away.
This book has a lot more going on than the first one.
With only 6 remaining girls, we get to know all of them much better and of course there are a few cat fights at this stage of the game.
More and more rebel attacks are happening and most of them are pretty severe. We learn some new fact about the current government.
We had some super nice moments in the book but also some heartbreaking and cruel moments.
Of course with only the elite remaining we get to know a lot more about the royal family itself. Some I should have seen coming but I didn’t because I was to busy looking for other things.
While I really liked America (Mer) in the last book, I really had a hard time likening her in this book. She was just so irritating, with her constant who does she love. She loves Maxon but when he does something she does not agree with , she ignores him and hates him and wants to be with Aspen. Even when she never knows all the details on why he acted that way. She ever betrays his trust, which made me super angry at her. She had no right to do what she did, just cause she got her feelings hurt. She put so many people in danger. She surely should know that being a ROYAL is not always sunshine and rainbows, that is has its dark sides.
Maxon, I still really like him and so far he seems to be the most honest of them all. But who knows maybe he is not. Though, he has his moments but really who can blame him with Merthere doing what she is doing and her antics and little fits sometimes. But I do believe that he really loves her, he just shown so much trust in her not to.
Aspen, I truly do not like him. He just seems bitter and jealous to me sometimes. And I think he actually would play dirty to get what he wants, America. But, really he is the one who dumped her in the first place. I think he should just move on, now that he is a 2 anyways he should have it much easier in life.
Overall, it was a good book. We had action, humor and romance, while I liked the book, I really didn’t like Mer this time around and a lot of times she just pissed me off. I will read the next book and really hope she turns herself around.
I rate this book at 3 ★

“I kind of wanted someone to rearrange the stars so they spelled out his words. I needed them big and bright, and somewhere I could see then when things felt dark. I love you. And I’m so, so proud.”
“America, there’s no question that you’ve had my heart from the beginning. By now you have to know that”
“It turns out I’m absolutely terrible at staying away from you. It’s a very serious problem.”
