Stone Cold Touch (The Dark Elements #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Stone Cold TouchSynopsis:

Every touch has its price

Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.

But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…

My thoughts:

This book picks up a couple weeks after the last one.  Layla still struggles with the loss of Roth for a few pages before he reappears of course. It’s not a spoiler since we have a love triangle and it wouldn’t be much of one without one guy missing. Most know I’m not a fan of love tringles but these books are great and it’s much more than your normal who should she choose. It’s about, should she choose good or evil. This is kind of hard for her, since she still sees herself more evil than good.

A lot of things are happening in this book and it is fast paced for sure, I liked this book more than the first one. It had more of a darker site to it. Lots of action, but also lots of heartbreak all nicely balanced with witty humor and PG rated sexy times. There are some major twist in this book again and some of it I didn’t see coming.

Last book I said I wasn’t sure about Zayne maybe because he was not in the book as much. That changes in this book. He is in it A LOT. But that didn’t change me not caring much for Zayne. I just didn’t care for the Zayne thing and it seemed a bit creepy to me at times. Also sometimes I was not sure if Zayne knew the difference between lust and love.

Roth, when he comes back is not the same Roth she knows, sure he is witty and a smart ass but he is not caring for her as much as he did. Though it was pretty easy to see trough is act for me.

Layla, oh Layla while I like her a lot there is also the part I dislike about her and that would be the whining. I wish should would grow and accept herself for what she is and learn to deal with that. Also that she should be more self-confident. She is smart, funny and strong, wish she would get that.

The end. OMG the end about killed me. I cannot believe she ended it like that and we have to wait until July 2015 to find out what is going to happen . Not only who she chooses but the other problem they are facing.

Overall I loved this book and I rate it 5★, while I was not happy about the cliffhanger it also excited me to no end lol . I seem to have a love-hate relationship with cliffhangers .

Some of my favorite quotes:

“I love you Layla. Do you hear me? I’ve loved you since the first moment I heard your voice and I will continue to love you. No matter what. I love you.”

“I don’t deserve you.”

“See, that’s where you’re wrong … That’s where you’ve always been wrong. You deserve everything.”

“This was better than looking through Tumblr posts of hot guys.”

“Maddox hissed. “You think you’re cute?”

“Nah, I think I’m sexy.” The smirk spread, but it didn’t reach his cool ocher eyes. “And I also think I’m hilarious.”
